Dayton, OH (June 9, 2022) - In 2021, battles between Dayton Dutch Lions FC and Kings Hammer FC were highlight worthy. Both matches were one-goal games, won by KHFC both times. One match saw an ESPN highlight game-winning bicycle kick goal from Karson Kendall in Dayton. The return leg saw a postponement right before halftime, a reschedule, and then late-game heroics from KHFC to win 3-2 in stoppage time after being down 0-2 in the first half. Possibly the closest rivalry match in all of USL League Two's Central Conference, Friday night's 7:00pm match at DOC Stadium between Dayton and KHFC could be another memorable one.

Dayton has not gotten off to the start they had hoped to, as they are winless through five matches, but took a big result in a draw against Cleveland Force SC (3-3). Close matches against Toledo Villa (L 1-2) and South Bend (L 0-2) give the club confidence to grab more points. Dayton has had a large rotation of goalkeepers, as four of them have shared the time, the club will be looking to get their first shutout of the season.

The big result at Toledo Villa FC (W 2-1) on Saturday June 4 snapped the Club's longest winless streak in two seasons (two matches - 0-1-1) and is hopefully kickstarting a longer winning streak to move up the table. A win would keep the Club in 3rd in the Valley Division, but still trailing leaders by three points and two behind second. Mikkel Gøling tallied his first goal of the season and Marcello Jones nabbed his second, the game winner, in the Toledo victory. 

Two more matches between the two clubs will take place during the 2022 USL2 season, one at the MAC and one more at Dayton.

Notable players: 
Maouloune Goumballe (KHFC) - The second-year KHFC winger leads the team in goals (2) and is second in shots (8). His two goals against Cleveland in May tied the club-record for goals in a game (2).

Oliver Hald (KHFC) - The University of Evansville product leads KHFC in minutes played (405). A defensive stalwart, Hald averages 81 minutes per game in the five matches he has started or played in.

Joseph Kouadio (DDLFC) - The Wright State product leads Dayton in shots (3) and goals scored (3).
