Georgetown, KY (May 9, 2022) - The USL W League season has officially begun, with the League kicking off on Saturday May 6. For Kings Hammer FC, the opener takes place on Wednesday night. Hosts Lexington SC will open their first USL W League season hosting KHFC for a 7:00pm kickoff at Toyota Stadium on the campus of Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky.

The two clubs are separated by a mere 60-plus minutes and will face off three times this season -- the opener at Lexington and the final two hosted by KHFC. An early matchup can lead to a lot of excitement, as clubs are still learning each other and adjusting to playing with players that are not commonly college teammates. The early match can also force players to adjust quicker so they can get cohesion as soon as possible, due to the forced competition that is now upon them.

Kings Hammer FC look to build off a decent finish to the inaugural 2022 USL W League season, which saw the club win two of its last three matches. Overall, 13 players return from the inaugural squad with an additional 10 players joining for the first time from the strong Kings Hammer ECNL program. 

Quick turnaround for the next KHFC match, as Mother's Day brings the home opener on Sunday May 14 against another newcomer in St. Charles FC. Kickoff scheduled for 2:00pm at Xavier University's Corcoran Field (tickets).

Notable players: 
Lilly Yordy (KHFC) - The Northern Kentucky University defender returns for her second season with KHFC. Yordy was fourth on the team in 2022 with 647 minutes played in eight matches.

Emma Cohen (KHFC) - Tied for second in matches played (9), Emma Cohen returns to central defense for KHFC. A stalwart with the University of Rochester, Cohen played 627 minutes in the inaugural season.

Morgan Gerak (KHFC) - A solid midfield contributor, Gerak played in six matches in 2022 with 508 minutes played. A Dayton Flyer, Gerak will look to make a big contribution in her second season with KHFC.
