RECAP: Tough Loss On the Road for KHFC Women

Louisville, KY (May 22, 2024) – Kings Hammer FC’s W League match against Racing Louisville FC ended in a loss, 6-1.

The first half started slow with heavy back-and-forth action. In the 34th minute, Racing Louisville FC’s midfielder, Tessa Dellarose scored a goal with an assist from Sarah Schupasky. Soon after, Racing Louisville FC’s Sophia Bowman found the back of the net in the 36th minute. The pace of the remainder of the half was dynamic as both teams exchanged possession of the ball continuously.

In the second half, Racing Louisville’s Schupansky, scored her first goal of the match in the 57th minute. As more back-and-forth play continued, Racing Louisville FC’s Sophia Bowman scored her second goal of the match in the 65th minute. In the 80th minute, Racing Louisville FC’s Sophia Bowman headed a kick right into the goal securing her team a 5-0 lead over Kings Hammer FC. Despite best efforts from KHFC’s defensive line and some impressive saves by Maria Galley, AG Gibson of Racing Louisville struck the back of the net in the 84th minute, scoring Racing Louisville’s final goal of the night. Coming down the wire in the 89th minute, Kings Hammer FC’s Brooke Brown, was able to secure KHFC’s first and only goal of the match. 

After the game, Jacob Morrison spoke on how Kings Hammer FC will shift their focus away from the frustration of this match and focus on their upcoming battle against Lexington SC, saying, 

“Everyone is a bit frustrated… We have a standard that we strive for and we fell a bit short today. Racing Louisville is a class team and if we expect to be a part of the conversation as one of the best teams in this conference we have to battle, compete, and play with bravery. We have a game in three days, our entire focus needs to shift to that game and getting three points against Lexington.”
